Often I get this question from customers who are new to CCW. In my opinion, there is no right or wrong answer. It boils down to this. Whatever firearm feels comfortable in the hand is the one you go with. Too often I hear people say, is a certain caliber handgun adequete for self defense? My answer is anytime you put a metallic object regardless of size into a human being at a high velocity the results are going to have a adverse impact on that individual. In there any caliber of handgun that will stop a assailiant immediately? Sure, maybe a 155 howitzer , but who is going to carry a cannon in their pocket. Not to say that bigger isn’t better, but rather one’s ability to shoot accurately is better. So, if you are thinking of carrying a firearm for the first time for self defense, my advice is to go down to your local indoor gun range and shoot a variety of handguns and see what feels best in the grip of your hand and shoots best. That is the one you should go with.
